Update: 87 miles so far, This has been a great encouragement to me to shed some extra pounds, and to share with people about the work of CH Global. The people at the gym have been very gracious and have posted my sign and the members have been very encouraging as well, My family, friends and co-workers have been supportive and generous throughout.... I will meet my goal of 100 miles and I hope to continue... this challenge provided me the motivation I needed.

By partnering with Al and Alice Schut, a Christian family run business from Embro, Ontario, we’re able to offer a wide variety of beautifully made pies and tarts. The product is freshly made, and each box comes with a list of ingredients on them.


The deadline for orders is February 28, 2010.       


Orders from Corporate or the West District office will be delivered on Friday March 5 to the Reception area. Those attending the Settlers Tournament at the Hamilton Day program can pick up their pies on March 6th. Arrangements for the delivery of orders from the Hamilton Niagara area can be made with your local program manager or by contacting Ingrid Dykstra.

Weigh in to the Power of One

TO ALL OF THOSE WANTING TO RID THEMSELVES OF THEIR EXTRA CHRISTMAS BAGGAGE, HERE IS A CHALLENGE FOR YOU!!

For a minimal fee of $25, you can be part of the challenge! Linda Lanesmith, and myself, Ann Nienhuis, would like to invite you to spend the next 6 weeks working towards shedding our extra pounds. Encourage the people around you to come along for the ride. All of the donations will be going to benefit Haiti and Global ministries. What better cause could be found then to bless those who have suffered so greatly?



We will be starting our challenge on Feb. 14th, and running it until March 28th. To join our group please email llanesmith@christian-horizons.org or anienhuis@christian-horizons.org and please include how you will be getting your donation to one of us. By Monday March 29th, all participants will have to have their weight loss percentage sent to one of us, and the person with the greatest loss will be given the honour of presenting our groups’ funds to Global Ministries.

BAKE SALE

I would like to cordially invite you to a bazaar (bake and craft sale) that we are hosting in Peel as part of our Leadership POWER OF ONE goal to raise $3,500.

In Home Chef...

This passed Saturday, January 29th, my family hosted a "ladies only" dinner party at our home, in support of CHGlobal. In thinking of what we could do to help with the Power of One campaign, my family and I had a little brainstorming session over dinner one night, and figured out that we love to host our friends for dinner, and we love to eat...a dinner party was a perfect idea!


We sent out invitations by email and phone, to about 25 people. With only a week's notice, we were thrilled that 18 people said they could attend! The invitation was to come to our home for dinner (to be created and cooked by my awesome "in home chef"... aka my husband!), not to bring a thing for dinner (which was tough for my friends who are so generous), and, if they were interested, to make a donation to CHGlobal.

We had an incredible time. My husband cooked and our daughters (and a couple of extra teenagers) served and cleaned up. We served curried sweet potato and pumpkin soup, salad, and beef tenderloin with all of the fixin's! For desert we enjoyed cookies, fudge and cheesecake!

We were so pleased that we more than surpassed the target we had set...people were incredibly generous. Even those who could not attend sent us donations!

Just "One" idea that could make a difference...and we had a whole lot of fun doing it!!
